 A Tale of Two Islands: Tasmania Vs Japan Whisky Event 10/6/'22 at RACV Hotel

Destination Cellars is excited to announce that we will be teaming up with Spring Bay Distillery and Beam Suntory for our Tale of Two Islands themed whisky event on Friday June 10th at 7pm in the elegant surrounds of the RACV Hobart Hotel. We will delve into some wonderful drams from Japan and Tasmania, promising a night of sublime whisky not to be missed.

To present the evening we will have on hand Dean Jackson from Spring Bay and Tom Scott representing the Japanese brands. Dean has chosen three new releases from Spring Bay; both the Sherry and Port are rich, round and super delicious, & the Bourbon cask is full of rich honey and crème brûlée notes followed by fruit tingles. Tom has selected three iconic Japanese drams that represent their famous trademark characteristics of elegance, balance and complexity. The Yamazaki 12 Year Old; Hibiki Harmony, & Hakushu Distillers Reserve.

Yamazaki 12 Year Old Single Malt Japanese Whisky - One of the world's most awarded and loved Japanese single malts. Made from 100% malted barley, this 12 year old expression is produced in copper pot stills and aged in casks of three different kinds of oaks: American, Spanish and Japanese. Balanced, elegant and complex.

Hibiki Harmony Blended Japanese Whisky - Hibiki Harmony is a blend of Japanese malt and grain whiskies from Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita. Presented in the brand's trademark 24-faceted bottle representing the traditional Japanese seasons, this is light, delicate and moreish with enticing notes of orange peel and white chocolate. Japanese whisky elegance personified.

Hakushu Distiller's Reserve Single Malt Japanese Whisky - The Hakushu distillery is found in the forest sanctuary at the foothills of the Japanese alps. This stunning malt has all of the floral and delicate notes we expect from Japanese whiskies. A green and crunchy entry in the Hakushu Range, combining whisky of a wide variety of ages, from across the range of casks used by the distillery to create a gently smoky dram, packed with fruity flavour.

Spring Bay Bourbon Cask 46% Single Malt WhiskyFrom a 100L cask, some of our oldest maturation so far. This helps bring rich rounded notes of honey, crème brûlée and fruit tingles. A delicious creamy sweetness makes for an exceptional sipping whisky. Either start your journey here or just enjoy the ease of drinking this whisky any time of the day.

Spring Bay Apera Cask 46% Single Malt WhiskyThis is a little special for Spring Bay Distillery as it is our first release of an Australian Apera cask from one of Australia’s oldest fortified producers, Seppeltsfield Winery in South Australia. This whisky is presented in our core range as an exceptional well-rounded maturation from an Australian style of sherry. 

Spring Bay Port Cask Rheban 58% Single Malt WhiskyWhat a set of casks! This whisky is a beautiful representation of Portugal and their amazing port influence. We have married 4 small casks together and with the rich lingering sweetness backed by dark fruits, you will enjoy the length and breadth of this whisky on the pallet for hours.

Tickets are $75 each and must be booked in advance.*

Your ticket includes all drams, finger food and good times. Bring some spending money as we will have stock available to purchase at great prices to attendees.
