Ardbeg Corryvrecken is named after a whirlpool in the north of Islay, aged in a mix of ex-Bourbon and ex-French Limousin Virgin oak casks. Intense, peaty, peppery, and well balanced. Not for the light hearted. A phenomenal, phenolic, powerful, peaty palate pleaser.
Nose: medicinal, buttery, creamy, roast chicken crisps, herbal, a hint of pine
Palate: Cream, sweet spices, tingling fresh fruit, medicinal, clementines and peat.
Finish: Sea spray, medicinal character, smoked meats, peat is fleeting,
Overall: Astonishing.
Awarded The World’s Best Single Malt in 2010 by the World Whiskies Awards.
