THE BALVENIE TUN 1509 BATCH NO.7
We welcome the much anticipated 7th batch of Balvenie Tun 1509! A hugely popular series of expressions from Balvenie, named after the tun in which the whisky is married for three months before being bottled.
The Tun lays reference to a process whereby The Balvenie’s David Stewart MBE showcases his knowledge of the ageing stocks by selecting a range of unique casks and marrying them over a period of time before bottling.
Edition 7 was made using whisky drawn from 21 hand-picked casks, including ten sherry butts, seven sherry hogsheads and four American oak barrels. After its marrying period, it was bottled at 52.4% ABV.
Rich and deep on the nose with lots of exotic yet elegant oak notes. Complex, rich and slightly peppery on the palate with candied orange peel, lashings of vanilla, layers of honeycomb, toasted hazelnuts with some spicy ginger and nutmeg to finish.
700ml | 52.4%ABV | From Speyside, Scotland.
