1985 Bas Armagnac
Fine Armagnac from the house of Delord. Distilled in 1985 and barrel aged until its recent bottling. You can appreciate the seven mystical Armagnac notes of nut, peach, violet, lime, vanilla, plum and pepper from this excellent Armagnac house that was established in 1893. A fantastic gift idea for an upcoming birthday.
Situated in Bas-Armagnac, Delord's distillery is to be found in the village of Lannepax, the ancestral home of the Delord family. They comment, "Our old Sier Armagnac alembics, that we wouldn't part with for all the gold in the world, produce less than 30 litres of eau-de-vie an hour. Our cellars contain our old treasured vintages and include more than 700 oak barrels that protect and age the Armagnac eau-de-vie dating from the 20th Century to the present day".
Delord Bas Armagnac Recolte 1985 was produced from Colombard, Ugni Blanc & Bacco grapes. It initially offers notes of sweet leather, roast almonds, hazelnut, toffee apple and an array of spices including cinnamon, clove and vanilla. The robust, spicy palate yields baked apple and raisin flavours followed by a wave of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg.
Nose: Quince, prunes, raisins and oak
Palate: Nutmeg, ginger, cocoa, oaky spice.
