Here we have a well-sherried, unpeated and triple distilled single malt from Campbeltown's Springbank distillery, released under the Hazelburn name. It was distilled in 2004, and aged completely in Oloroso sherry casks for the entire 14 year maturation. The liquid was then bottled in 2019 at 49.3%abv.
Nose:Fruit and nut chocolate, rich dark chocolate mocha, raisins and marzipan, berry coulis and caramelised walnuts.
Palate:A hint of leather, with jammy blackberry and milk chocolate praline, followed by freshly baked blueberry muffins, a pinch of pepper and pear drops.
Finish:Sherried fruits, salted caramel, liquorice, roasted coffee beans and waxy notes, as the pepper returns for a lengthy finish.
