Hunter Island is a Tasmanian Triple Distilled Pot Still Whisky crafted by Damian Mackey
CASK STRENGTH RELEASE: BOURBON / PORT CASK MATURED
Fat and creamy, and loaded with flavour and texture, Hunter Island's very first cask strength expression is here.
Created from their signature mash bill of: 65% malted barley, 30% unmalted barley and 5% oats, and triple distilled in a copper pot still, this whisky was first aged in ex-Port and ex-Bourbon casks, and later married in an ex-Bourbon Heaven Hill American Oak quarter cask. Bottled straight from the cask, in its natural state, at 63.1% ABV.
Tasting Notes:
Warm fruity nose, dried fig and pears, creamy-sweet and viscous on the palate, notes of freshly ground nutmeg, gingerbread, fine oak, and a lingering spicy finish.
Hunter Island Pot Still Whisky complies with the Irish definition and uses a mash bill of 65% malted barley, 30% unmalted barley and 5% oats. The unmalted barley provides the classic ‘pot still spice’ across the middle of the palate and a deep ‘nuttiness’, while the oats add a creamy mouth feel.
HUNTER ISLAND WHISKY HAS BEEN CREATED FROM A MIXED MASH BILL, HAS BEEN TRIPLE DISTILLED IN COPPER POT STILLS, AND AGED IN HAND-SELECTED OAK CASKS.
SINGLE POT STILL WHISKEY IS A CENTURIES-OLD IRISH CREATION, AND TODAY, IT’S ON THE WAY TO RECLAIMING ITS PLACE AS THE WORLD’S MOST-LOVED DARK SPIRIT.
HUNTER ISLAND TASMANIAN POT STILL WHISKY IS OUR TASMANIAN INTERPRETATION OF IRELAND’S SIGNATURE DRAM, AND AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHOWCASE TASMANIA’S EXCELLENT INGREDIENTS.
Hunter Island has the smoothness wrought by triple distillation, but also a depth of character from the mixed mash bill.
It retains the rich, oily markers of great Tasmanian whiskies, thanks to the brewers’ barley that is widely used and grown here. Our aim is to combine everything that is great about Tasmanian Whisky with this classic Irish style.
Small Batch. Triple distilled and non chill filtered.
