Built by William Grants & Sons, the owners of Glenfiddich and The Balvenie to produce Grants whisky and produce grain whisky for the blends in the portfolio. Girvan Distillery is a large distillery mainly uses Coffey stills to produce spirit. It is also the site of the Ladyburn distillery which was open from 1965 to 1975. Today the site is home to the Ailsa Bay Distillery and Hendricks Gin plant.
This independent bottling by Murray McDavid has been initially matured in three 250 litre refill ex-Bourbon Hogsheads for a shade over 11 years, then finished in two 1st Fill Madeira Barriques for 9 months. Bottled at 46% ABV. Only 839 bottles were produced for worldwide distribution.
Nose: Walnut bread, lemongrass and buttered corn
Palate: Honey on toast, peppered oatcake and cereal
Finish: Orange peel, dried strawberries and cardamom
