Gold Medal Winning Japanese Single Malt
Yoichi is the location of the Nikka's first distillery, a stunningly picturesque area of Hokkaido in Japan. The direct coal fire distillation means a truly unique spirit featuring light smoke and vibrant fruitiness complimented by a hint of sea spray. An incredibly balanced and elegant whisky, winning a gold medal at the World Whiskies Awards. Coal fire distillation is the traditional method of producing whisky, and imparts a distinctive character. Few distilleries around the world continue to use direct fire distillation, having opted for more modern, efficient methods. Highly recommend drinking alongside the Nikka Miyagikyo, which is produced at Nikka's second distillery using steam heated stills. This is a non-age-statement expression of Yoichi bottled at 45%abv.
