The First Fleurieu whisky released by Tasmanian Independent Bottlers FL 006 49.1% ABV
TIB is run by local alchemist Tim Duckett, producer of the famed high-octane Heartwood brand, who has created TIB to offer a more gentle style of whisky with less 'mongrel' than the Heartwood releases.
He sources spirit from Tasmania, mainland Australia, and New Zealand based on its texture and flavour profile. It is then matched to a specific barrel type. Currently they have selected 13 barrel types for maturation of the spirit including: Sherry, Port, Bourbon, Muscat, Botrytis, Virgin oak, Re-educated 2nd fill, Rum, Bourbon Rum, Sherry Rum, Tokay, PX, Rye (soon), Whisky beer. Also they will have oats, rye, & apple spirit. Exciting times.
This is their first ever release from South Australia’s award winning Fleurieu distillery, it was then shipped to Tasmania and matured in Hobart in a Sherry cask under Tassie conditions. It was bottled in March 2019.
TIB was awarded Independent Bottler of the Year (non scotch) Independent Bottlers Challenge from the Whisky Magazine and Australian Producer of the Year from the Wizards of Whisky.
