The Blend #1 is here from Tasmanian Independent Bottlers
The TIB Blend #1 has hit our shelves. It has been matured in virgin oak, sherry and peated casks in combination with whisky from Belgrove oat casks. The blend of malt and oat makes for a textured and complex whisky, while remaining at a friendly drinking 50.4% abv.
TIB is run by local alchemist Tim Duckett, producer of the famed high-octane Heartwood brand, who has created TIB to offer a more gentle style of whisky with less 'mongrel' than the Heartwood releases.
He sources spirit from Tasmania, mainland Australia, and New Zealand based on its texture and flavour profile. It is then matched to a specific barrel type. Currently they have selected 13 barrel types for maturation of the spirit including: Sherry, Port, Bourbon, Muscat, Botrytis, Virgin oak, Re-educated 2nd fill, Rum, Bourbon Rum, Sherry Rum, Tokay, PX, Rye (soon), Whisky beer. Also they will have oats, rye, & apple spirit. Exciting times.
TIB was awarded Independent Bottler of the Year (non scotch) Independent Bottlers Challenge from the Whisky Magazine and Australian Producer of the Year from the Wizards of Whisky.
