Limited Release Collaboration with Apsley Gorge Finished in their Pinot Noir Cask
LIMITED RELEASE: APSLEY COLLABORATION SINGLE MALT WHISKY
Our first ever Limited Release, the Apsley Collab, is a collaboration with the esteemed winemaker Brian Franklin from Apsley Gorge Vineyard in Tasmania to create a Waubs Harbour limited release single malt whisky.
Made, matured & bottled at Waubs Harbour Distillery on the east coast of Tasmania, just metres from the ocean and covered in salty air.
The Aspley Collab was made firstly using ex-Apera Sherry casks, drawing out spiced apple and creamy fruits, and finished in Apsley Gorge Vineyard ex-Pinot Noir casks, bringing notes of raspberry, blackberry and an oak complexity. Bottled at 44%.
ROB'S TASTING NOTES
NOSE - Spiced apple and creamy fruits. Raspberry overlay directly from the Pinot Noir cask, inviting biscuit, brown sugar and cream.
PALATE - Sweet fruits. apple and raspberry. Big creamy barley malt. Nice, soft and complex oak.
FINISH - Lovely oak sweetness. Brown sugars and a hint of char.
