An evening of fine spirits and exquisite chocolate pairing

Destination Cellars warmly invite you to our latest Cognac/Armagnac/Brandy & Chocolate Pairing event on Friday April 19th at 7.30pm in the beautiful surrounds of the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania

This time around we will be comparing and contrasting five iconic French Armagnac and Cognac producers from Château du Tariquet, Francois Voyer, and Delord as well as a  Tasmanian brandy from local legend Heartwood. To elevate the evening, we will pair up with local chocolate guru Giovanni Zito from Nutpatch Chocolatier to bring you handmade artisan chocolates.

Are you salivating yet?!

Here's what we will have on tasting:

Francois Voyer Cognac 'Terre de Grande Champagne' 5 year old 40% ABV - A beautiful fruity and floral expression - typical of the Grand Champagne Cognacs. The Cognac of Francois Voyer is produced on the Voyer family's estate, planted to just 28 hectares, located in between Verrières and Ambleville, in Cognac's most prestigious appellation, Grande Champagne.

Domaine Tariquet Classique VS Bas-Armagnac 45% ABV - Distilled on the family run estate from the notoriously hard to grow Folle Blanche grape. This Bas-Armagnac is then aged in French oak barrels in the century-old cellars of Chateau Du Tariquet. This Bas-Armagnac VS is a blend of different vintages made from one single grape variety. It is an outstanding introduction to how well-made a young brandy can be.

Delord XO Bas Armagnac 40% ABV - This beautiful Armagnac from the House of Delord is aged for a minimum of 10 years with aromas of caramel, vanilla and nuts, and exhibiting flavours of spice and oak, mellowing out into plums and raisin sweetness and an aromatic finish.

Domaine Tariquet 12 Year Old Bas-Armagnac 48.2% ABV - Chateau du Tariquet 12 Year Old Cask Strength Armagnac. Distilled on the family run estate, this Bas-Armagnac is then aged in French oak barrels in the century old cellars of Chateau Du Tariquet for 12 years before being bottled at cask strength to optimise the aromatic characteristics.

Delord Armagnac-Tenareze Vintage 1979 40% ABV - Another fine Armagnac from the House of Delord, which was established in 1893. Distilled in 1979 and barrel aged until its recent bottling, this wonderful expression allows you to fully appreciate the seven mystical Armagnac notes of nut, peach, violet, lime, vanilla, plum and pepper.

Heartwood Not Far from the Tree #2 Apple Brandy 57.9% ABV - Heartwood is run by local alchemist Tim Duckett. Heartwood has won countless awards on some of the most prestigious whisky stages over the past decade and here he shows his hand at producing Tasmanian Apple Brandy. Distilled at Willie Smiths and aged in a 50 Year Old Vintage Port Cask, bottled at a tasty 57.9% ABV.

All drinks will be paired with hand made selections from Giovanni at Nutpatch Chocolate. If you've never attended one of these events then now is your chance.
