Bruichladdich Octomore Eight Series Event
An enthusiastic group of about 50 people gathered at Hadley's Oriental Hotel to taste the Octomore Masterclass 08 Series from Bruichladdich's new Head Distiller Adam Hannett.
The Evening started with Gareth Jones from Spirits Platform talking us through the 2 warm up drams from Bruichladdichs's Barley Provenance series: The Organic 2009 & Bere Barley 2008. Both were well received by the audience, almost a fifty/fifty split on preference.
We then had the opportunity that few people any where get, and that was to sample and discuss amongst friends the Octomore 8 series side by side. Tasting them individually is an experience, but tasting them as a set and comparing and contrasting them with friends was one of the most enjoyable things a whisky lover could do. Bucket list stuff.
The most popular amongst the crowd was the 8.3 stating the big peat and sweet wine mix as heady and seductive. The 8.3 narrowly pipped the other three expressions which nearly tied for second favourite.
