Xmas Drams in July
On an especially beautiful winter sunny day we gathered at Hadley's Hotel to sample some Armagnac and whisky more suited to the traditional festive season with our Christmas in July event.
Starting with 2 Bas-Armagnacs: the 1988 30YO Delord followed by the Tariquet 15YO cask strength, both were well received. We then moved on to the first of 4 whiskies, starting with a new 4 year old distillery in the beautiful Cotswolds region of England. This paddock to bottle dram matured in both ex-bourbon and ex-wine cask was a treat. Then on to the great staple from Overeem the Port Cask Matured, what a cracking drop! Finishing out the tasting with two cask strength beauties from Indian Distiller Amrut, the first being Intermediate Sherry (which eventually won gold for the day by Todd's tie-break vote!) and then finishing with the massive Portonova.
